Stephen Hawking is an English theoretical physicist, cosmologist and astrophysicist, author and director of research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology at Cambridge University; he has written several scientific papers, including a collaboration with Roger Penrose on the gravitational singularity theorems in general relativity and theoretical predictions of black hole radiation, often referred to as Hawking radiation.
